Helping you understand best practices in designing for compliance & reliability to help you develop, improve and maintain quality products, components and systems.
Regulations governing product compliance worldwide, evolve to ensure that products do not represent harm or hazards to users and will perform as intended according to applicable standards. Implementing practices that address compliance considerations throughout the design phase can minimize design errors, reduce time to market and reduce costs prior to product release.
In the 2018 Design for Compliance & Reliability Seminar, you’ll learn about planning for compliance throughout the entire design phase of product development. Testing and design experts from MET laboratories, Eurofins CPT, EAG Laboratories, and DFR Solutions will present critical insights and best practices into designing for compliance and reliability in a full day of workshops to help you effectively design and deliver mature products to market quickly and cost-effectively.

What You’ll Learn
At the 2018 Design for Compliance and Reliability Seminar, industry leading experts will discuss compliance challenges facing electrical product manufacturers and how to ensure product quality and compliance through implementing practices that address critical compliance considerations in the design phase of product development. You’ll meet testing and design experts in product safety, electromagnetic compatibility, reliability, chemical product testing and more with topics including:
Design for EMC Compliance
In this presentation you’ll learn how to ensure product quality, and compliance through implementing practices that address critical EMC compliance considerations throughout the design phase of product development. Topics include: EMC/EMI Design Guidelines, Radiated Emissions Considerations, Conducted Emissions Considerations, Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Mitigation, Proper Component Selection, Common Failures, and Debug Techniques.
Design for Product Safety Compliance
In this presentation you’ll learn industry best practices in planning for Product Safety testing early in the design phase of product development, processes for testing/certification, component & supplier selection, product markings & documentation. Topics include Product Safety Design Considerations, Selecting Proper Components, Conditions of Acceptability, Product Markings & Documentation, and Hazard Based Safety Engineering.
Design for FCC Compliance
The FCC CFR Title 47 requires you to understand how your device is classified by the FCC in order to select the appropriate equipment authorization methods to prove compliance. In this presentation, you’ll learn how to properly identify applicable requirements, regulatory bodies for major wireless economies, and wireless/rf type approvals as it applies to your product.
Reach/RoHS Testing – Eurofins Product Testing
In this presentation you’ll learn critical insight into managing risk associated with hazardous substances from design to production. Topics include manufacturers obligations, test methods according to IEC 62321, incorporating RoHS/REACH into your quality process, Chemical Risk Assessment, obtaining DoC as it applies to EN50581.
Failure Analysis – EAG Laboratories
If a product fails due to unknown reasons or before its estimated lifespan, failure analysis can explain how and why the product failed. You’ll learn critical insights into identifying product improvements throughout a product’s estimated lifespan to eliminate expected failures before they occur. From this data, manufacturers can identify engineering, material and usage flaws that allow them to improve the product design or fix the problem in later generations.
Validating Design to Environmental Conditions: HALT/HASS
Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) is a form of environmental testing that combines climatic and dynamic components. It integrates vibration into the chamber environment, where temperature and vibration extremes can also be applied simultaneously. In this presentation you’ll learn critical insights including improving product durability & ruggedness, lowering product’s infant mortality rate, and using HALT/HASS testing to reduce claims under your product warranty.
